WRITE-IDEAS

Public Writing Classes
(Creative Non-Ficiton & Fiction)

Public classes are a great way to begin and continue your writing education. You learn the basics of writing and critiquing, have your work professionally critiqued, and participate in a writers group in a friendly environment. Many participants find great writing partners and fresh inspiration. Also classes are reasonably priced, and you get to "test drive" the writing teacher.

Each semester, except for summer, I teach public writing classes. This Fall Semester (2005) I'm making several changes due to my new commitments with KOMENAR Publishing. Descriptions below are similar to what the catalogues print. For more information about the classes and class fees, please contact Piedmont Adult School and Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department. Contact information is included with class information.

FYI: Regarding "beginners," I don't really know what that term means. People who turn to creative writing as a means of developing or fulfilling an artistic side to their life are rarely beginners as in knowing nothing or little. Most of us at that point seek to transfer energy and focus from one avenue to a new one...that doesn't make us "beginners" as much as it makes us "expanders."

Both fiction-writing classes below are basically the same kind of class:
Creative writing knows no boundaries and many truths. This six-week, on-going novel and short story writing class is for anyone looking to strengthen their writing by taking it to the next level; by making scenes and characters vivid, vibrant and immediate; by writing short stories or developing a novel. We will read, write and grow as writers together, through exercises, discussion and more, including movie clips that demonstrate story, character, and structure. Beginners welcome.

The titles may be different or incorrect at this point in time as I have not seen the new catalogues. But the listed times, dates and locations are CORRECT. PLEASE NOTE: A couple of holidays do occur during the class schedule and will postpone a meeting or two. Announcements will be made in class.
